Report: Town of New Shoreham Broadband Plan and Network Designs
It’s no surprise that Block Island’s telecommunications infrastructure is very limited in comparison to mainland Rhode Island. With the development of the Deepwater Wind project, the town has an opportunity to lease fiber from the National Grid cable running to the proposed offshore wind farm. In response to requests from town officials, BBRI commissioned a study to assess the state of telecommunications infrastructure on the island, articulate the community’s standard for broadband service, analyze the gap, and design potential solutions for closing that gap.

Report: Aquidneck Island Broadband Analysis and Recommendations
Aquidneck Island (comprising Middletown, Newport and Portsmouth) is a key region for the state’s economy. In response to requests from several entities in the community including the Newport IT Working Group, the Aquidneck Island Planning Commission, the Newport County Chamber of Commerce and municipal officials, BBRI commissioned a study to analyze Aquidneck’s broadband services and diagnose performance gaps.
